PURPOSE:

The IAKC Academic Excellence Award recognizes high school seniors who demonstrate exemplary academic achievement, leadership, and meaningful involvement in extracurricular and community activities. The award celebrates students who have distinguished themselves academically while demonstrating initiative, character, and a commitment to philanthropy and making a positive impact in their community and beyond.

Two outstanding students of Indian origin residing in the Kansas City metropolitan area will receive this award. Applications will be evaluated by a panel of judges based on academic achievement, leadership, extracurricular involvement, community service, and overall accomplishments, including areas such as visual arts, athletics, and other community activities.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

The applicant or the applicant’s parent(s) must be an IAKC member for the current calendar year.
The applicant, or the applicant’s parent, grandparent, or great-grandparent, must be an Indian citizen or Overseas Citizen of India (OCI).
The applicant must be a high school senior attending a school in the Kansas City metropolitan area.
The applicant must demonstrate a strong academic record and good academic standing, including a competitive GPA.
The applicant must demonstrate leadership, motivation, initiative, integrity, and intellectual depth, along with meaningful involvement in philanthropy, community service, and/or extracurricular activities.
A letter of recommendation from a teacher, counselor, or mentor who can attest to the applicant’s academic achievements, character, leadership, and overall accomplishments.
- Letter should mention the name, title, contact number and address of the recommender.
- Please have them mention that the letter of recommendation is for the Academic Scholarship.
- The completed recommendation form can be emailed to academic@iakc.org. The last date to receive the recommendation form is Saturday, October 15, 2026
The applicant must not have previously received any academic or related recognition from IAKC.

Complete the application form below. Please ensure that a copy of your current school transcript/report card is included with your application. Note: You must be logged in with your current active IAKC account to see the “Application Form” button below.
Ensure that your teacher, counselor, or mentor emails the letter of recommendation directly to academic@iakc.org before the application deadline.

IMPORTANT: Submission Deadline Application as well as the letter of recommendation must be submitted by Saturday, October 15, 2026. Late submissions will not be considered. For any questions please reach out to academic@iakc.org.
