Someone’s Hero Scholarship Application Form

Award amount : USD 500

This scholarship recognizes a student who has helped make the world a better place through inclusivity, trustworthiness, and strong leadership. The recipient is a student who has been a leader in building others up not as fortunate as him/her via activities and/or events at the school, community and/or global level. We are focused on awarding this scholarship to a Senior who has demonstrated the above criteria.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

  1. The applicant or applicant’s parent(s) must be a member of IAKC for the current calendar year.
  2. The applicant or applicant’s parent, grand-parent or great grand-parent must be Indian Citizen or Overseas Citizen of India.
  3. The applicant must be a High School student attending a school in the Kansas City metropolitan area.
  4. The applicant must demonstrate one or more of the following:
    • Evidence of initiating or leading projects, events, or organizations that aim to build confidence in others, particularly those less fortunate.
    • Active participation in community service or volunteer activities focused on supporting underserved or underprivileged communities.
    • Proven record of organizing or participating in events that foster empowerment and confidence-building.
  5. A letter of recommendation from a teacher, counselor, or mentor who can attest to the applicant’s academic achievements, character, leadership, and overall accomplishments. 
    • Letter should mention the name, title, contact number and address of the recommender.
    • Please have them mention that the letter of recommendation is for the Someone’s Hero Scholarship.
    • They need to tell us why they believe the nominated student deserves this recognition. Describe the student’s contribution to the school’s mission related to leadership and impact on the school, local, and/or global community.
    • The completed recommendation letter can be emailed to academic@iakc.org. The last date to receive the recommendation letter is Saturday, October 15, 2026
  6. The applicant must not have previously received any academic or related recognition from IAKC.
 
Application Process
  1. Complete the application form below. Note: You must be logged in with your current active IAKC account to see the “Application Form” button below.
  2. Ensure that your teacher, counselor, or mentor emails the letter of recommendation directly to academic@iakc.org before the application deadline.

IMPORTANT: Submission Deadline
Application as well as the letter of recommendation must be submitted by Saturday, October 15, 2026. Late submissions will not be considered.
